| Today is Tuesday, the beginning of my 3rd week. I already have so much to talk about, but I'm waiting for a bit more to happen before I make any critical reflections on this week's happenings. Last week I finished up my 2nd week of student teaching and also had my first observation by my University Supervisor, Nancy. The lesson went fairly well. I call it, 'THE FASTEST PRINTMAKING LESSON EVER!' since I had 45 minutes total to talk about the main types of printmaking, give a demo on collagraph printmaking, and then allow the students to produce their own plates and prints. Both Gwen and Nancy gave me good feedback, even though I ran out of time. However, half of the class produced plates and prints that same day. The most successful part of the day was that the students in that class were productive and respectful. This week is off to a rough start. More on this later. On Friday, several students traveled to the Zootown Arts Community Center to participate in alternative print/transfer process with packing tape and clay. Some students were very engaged and others could care less about being there. Where do we round up enough motivation and inspiration for these students??? In other news, a student finished his clay project that I have been helping him with. It turned out AWESOME and he is so excited about it. |
